“Soulscapes in Silver”

The jewellery exhibition “Soulscapes in Silver” by the Eesti Filigraani Liit is the association’s first collective exhibition. The members of the association are deeply committed to preserving and applying traditional filigree techniques in their creative work, but for this first exhibition they chose to use their technical skills in the pursuit of free artistic expression.

The exhibition pieces by Alvar Umb are inspired by Kihnu and its folk heritage. The first two pieces, “Õis” and “Neeruline”, draw inspiration from the textiles of traditional Kihnu folk costumes, where floral and spiral motifs frequently appear. The other two works, “Lainetus” and “Vaikne meri”, were inspired by the ever changing beauty of the sea, at times stormy, at times calm.

All pieces of jewellery are created using the traditional Estonian filigree technique.
